Hypnotherapy for Stress

Back to home page
Stress is your body's way of responding to any kind of demand. It can be caused by both good and bad experiences. When 'stressed' the body thinks it's under attack and switches to 'fight or flight' mode releasing a complex mix of hormones and chemicals to prepare the body for physical action.
Imagine a symphony orchestra getting out of control. The string section a few bars ahead of the brass, the percussion banging a beat from a different piece entirely and the conductor waving his arms twice as fast as the score demands. Eventually the musicians attempting to get in time with the chaos become more frenzied until they finally collapse.

Similarly as a person perpetuates stress, enduring excessive tension they too can experience an out of control overwhelming feeling and or suffer illnesses relating to that stress.
There are so many causes of stress that it would be difficult to pinpoint a single cause. A few of the hundreds or so might include;

An inherited proclivity for stress
You have learned to behave in the same way as someone you admire or have depended upon.

You have a Type A personality which may include
Prone to overachievement
In the habit of working towards unrealistic goals
Consistently competitive
Constantly aware of time and rushing
Quick to exhibit anger
Cynical

Stressed because of fears, 'catastrophising' and 'shoulds'
Focussing on the nightmares of life, imagining the worst possible outcomes. Making up rules for yourself and others and trying to follow them religiously, such as 'I should not make mistakes' 'I should be the perfect employee/parent/friend etc'

Stress caused by pain or discomfort
A real physical cause that is often accompanied by an emotional aspect of feeling helpless, or isolated, or anger or guilt etc.

Stressed because of repressed feelings such as hurt, anger or sadness.

Stress caused by a specific incident that overwhelms your physical, mental or emotional capabilities.

Stress due to a dietary inefficiency

And lastly if you are a woman you may experience stress as a product of PMS.

So how can hypnotherapy alleviate stress

Stress is a part of life and of course you cannot always change the circumstances in which you live, but you do however, have the powerful ability to choose how you react to them.

In our time together we will discuss your stress and how it affects your life. What you would like to change or achieve, perhaps to become a calmer, more effective, healthier person.

And then proceed to reduce or eliminate the negative stress to free you of those repressed feelings using hypnotherapy and TimeLine therapy.
Help you feel protected from outside stresses so that pressure and tension bounces off and away from you.
And lastly to incorporate new behaviours, reprogramming your unconscious mind so that it can help you act on and experience new responses to old stimuli.
