Hypnotherapy for Smoking Cessation

Back to home page
Smoking becomes a habit that is so well ingrained that it almost seems to be a reflexive action that is impossible to quit. And all the government or friendly advice to the danger can't seem to create the right mindset that quitting will cause anything but personal distress. And perhaps you've tried many times before and have come to believe that you just can't do it. Your logical thinking part of your brain wants to successfully quit but the habits cause is way down deep in your unconscious and thats where hypnotherapy can effectively reprogram that need.
Everyone knows that the smoking habit is unhealthy, the effects not only life shortening but also quality of life impairing. It is expensive, socially undesirable and ageing. Yet everyone who has ever smoked or is struggling to quit, know that for them cigarettes are or were helpful in some way.

People continue to smoke for all sorts of reasons;

You smoke to nurture yourself.
You light up and get a quick lift, a boost. Perhaps cigarettes help you feel less isolated, are a comfort, are a reliable 'friend.'

You smoke to relieve stress or provide a break in you day.
The pause in your daily activity, this few minutes break while you light a cigarette can feel relaxing. The fact that to inhale you take deep breaths is in itself relaxing. When you light up it boosts your mood as you can look forward to a few moments of pleasure.

You smoke because it helps you in social situations.
Cigarettes can be a prop when you are feeling a little awkward, they can help you feel a little more secure where otherwise you would be feeling ill at ease. Offering or accepting a cigarette or smoking with others outside is a bonding experience, an ice breaker for conversation.
Some people think smoking allows them to appear more confident, worldly and outgoing.

You smoke to control your weight.
Smoking does suppress appetite and smokers will often have cigarettes in lieu of breakfast or lunch for example.

Hypnotherapy for Stress

The first thing is to establish the reasons you smoke and you can see from the above that these reasons are all positive in nature. Its not wrong to want to feel nurtured or comforted, stress free or confident. The intention of smoking is good but the habit itself is destructive rather than supportive. So in clinic we will find ways to meet those needs in new more beneficial ways so that you can let go of the smoking habit far more easily than you ever thought.

Everyone knows someone who has quit smoking but still says they’d like one with a drink, or after a meal.
And what a terrible place that is to be. Having to deny yourself something you want all the time.
That’s why I use an approach that helps you become a true non-smoker, not just someone who is resisting smoking.
The ‘stopped smoker’ courageously resists having a cigarette, while the non-smoker couldn’t think of anything worse than smoking.
That’s if they give it a thought at all.
My approach to smoking cessation hypnotherapy changes the unconscious mind of a smoker to an effortless non-smoker.
The techniques I use address every single psychological trick that smoking addiction plays on you and frees you from its grip.
Smoking cessation hypnosis with me will gently move your mind from its current addicted state to complete freedom from cigarettes.
No longer will you be controlled by the need to smoke: No more planning your day so you can smoke, no more running outside at work or at parties, no more worrying whether you have enough cigarettes left. No more stressing about what smoking is doing to your health.

Using hypnotherapy you will come to perceive cigarettes as unappealing and distasteful. See yourself as a nonsmoker, as someone who is healthy and energetic. Reprogram the unconscious mind with positive suggestions of new patterns of behaviour and new ways of thinking.
